I decided i would research my target audience before i started filming, so i could then use it as a tool to the way i shoot my opening sequence.
Age: 15-30
Because there will be a lot of violence in the film, but it will not be overly explicit to make it and 18 rated film. Conventions of thriller films are 15 or 18 rated so by making my production a bit tamer it means i can expand my target audience which will hopefully increase revenue from film sales.
Gender: Male
Although males and females will like my opening sequence, the action/thriller genre is seen as more of a male genre, whereas in comparison the romantic genre is seen as more or a female genre. My research showed me this as i asked my friends and family what genre they preferred and every four males to every one female said thriller.
Personality: Likes being scared but also taken on a journey through the film.
With a action/thriller film i want to aim to thrill people and make some parts quite dark but also to give it a lot of action an a journey to go along with the action. So that is why i think the target audiences personality will like to be taken on journeys through the form of a film and also like the feeling of being scared. Although all over personality will hopefully still enjoy it. My research showed me this as people who find being scared boring told me that they would watch thriller films and also people who said they like a love story said they also wouldn't watch it so that's how i came up with my personality codes and conventions of thrillers.
Overall this helped me see what my target audience is, as by looking at what type of people watch thrillers i could then generate my target audience (as seen above)
